The Westchester County Office of Tourism is the official Tourism
Promotion Agency (TPA) for Westchester County, and is a Division
within the Office of the County Executive. The role of the
Office of Tourism is to promote and coordinate leisure and business
travel into Westchester County. The Office of Tourism received over
1.6 million inquiries and website visits in 2006.
Tourism, one of Westchester County’s six recognized “Economic
Development Clusters”, has an annual economic impact of over $1.4
Billion. Nearly 13,000 people are employed in the tourism industry
county-wide. The Office of Tourism is funded primarily by revenues
collected from the Westchester County Hotel Bed Tax, receipts from
which totaled $4.82 Million in 2006.
Westchester County represented nearly 60% of the Hudson Valley
region’s tourism sales, with over $3.4 billion in visitor-driven
expenditures.
