Situated on ten hilltop acres overlooking the majestic Hudson River, with its main tower forming the highest point in Westchester County

The Castle is an historic landmark located just 25 miles north of New York City in the riverside community of Tarrytown

A medieval-style structure that evokes the romantic days of chivalry The Castle is an authentic Norman-style castle constructed at the turn of the century entirely from stone quarried at its site and designed in a style reminiscent of the ancient castles of Wales, Scotland and Ireland Thirty-one spacious and exquisitely furnished rooms and suites, 24 of which are recently added, induce enchanting fantasies of another time and place, with many of the units featuring wood burning fireplaces, turret alcoves and breathtaking views of the hillside and the Hudson River

Imported father-and-son carpenter teams handcrafted the hewn oak girders, beams, woodwork and some of the rich four-poster king-size beds Over the years, these exquisite details have been meticulously preserved along with the Castle's exterior

Also contained within The Castle are a gourmet restaurant, a fully stocked library, spacious banquet and meeting facilities and a state-of-the-art health and fitness center

The Castle features 31 lavishly decorated guest rooms and suites Six of the suites range in size from 530-900 square feet (one is the spacious Lismore Suite, set high in the Castle's tower Accommodations include hand-carved four-poster king-size beds, complete with imported linens and goose down comforters, elegant lamps, original artwork purchased from galleries in Europe, custom made chandeliers and well appointed, marble bathrooms Each suite includes a large, richly furnished living room and most have woodburning fireplaces All of The Castle's suites and rooms exude a warmth and charm in their original décor with the world of aristocratic fantasy, in all it's glorious detail, beckoning across the threshold of each door

In the room amenities include mini bars, color televisions with cable and VCR, AM/FM radio alarm clocks, and in-room safes A telephone and a computer data processing line with facsimile machine hook-up is available Valet parking, laundry, dry-cleaning services and nightly turn-down service are also provided

Each bathroom contains a telephone, an amenity basket, a hair dryer, a make-up/shaving mirror and plush terry bathrobes

The rooms are accessible to the handicapped

The 120-seat Equus Restaurant is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner Fine-dinning in a semi-formal atmosphere with an eclectic menu of classically based, contemporary cuisine parallels the sensation of romantic fantasy throughout the inn Guests may dine in the historic Oak Room, where a grand stone fireplace crackles in chilly months, the intimate Tapestry Room, which provides for a selection of settings to suit any occasion, and the enclosed Garden Room, which offers an airy garden setting and views of the New York City skyline Cocktails are served at the elegant General's Bar
